High School Career: Kervin had a banner career for the Mustangs. He was the only player in school history to be named team MVP twice. That happened in 2003 and 2004. He also won the program’s top hustle award and the defensive MVP as a sophomore. Texas Baseball Magazine named him the 25th best prospect. He was also the offensive most valuable player for his district in 2004.
College: He just completed a very solid college career between the University of Arizona and TCU as a shortstop. He played at Arizona as a freshman. He played at TCU for his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. As a senior, Kervin batted .288 with three home runs and 40 RBIs. He was one of three players who started all 63 games for TCU, which went 44-19, won the Mountain West Conference and advanced to the NCAA tournament.
Professional: The Toronto Blue Jays chose Kervin in the 27th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on June 6. Kervin has since signed and reported to Auburn (N.Y.) of the Rookie NY-Penn League. He was hitting .290 through his first 10 games.
