Larre’s Corner
62 Main Chef/Owner Lands Another Gig
Larre Green
It seems that the big chatter going around, besides how hot it is, has been about the recent closing of restaurant 62 Main, located in the Village at Colleyville.
Although on the surface the reaction has been one of shock, if you chat long enough about this subject, the reaction on the street seems to be more along the line of surprise as to how long he remained open, considering how few people were actually dining there.
Needless to say, I am not referring to the Bar On Two, McMillan’s lounge next door; it may be gone as well, but let’s face it, that place had its regulars…(yes, you know who you are)!
Of course, the actual question being asked has been "what is David McMillan going to do next?"
Here is the skinny: On Tuesday of this week, McMillan began his new career as the corporate Executive Chef at Consilient Restaurants, which owns concepts such as Cuba Ilbre, Hibiscus, The Porch and Firesides Pies in addition to new restaurants Victor Tango’s — opening this summer — and Westside Tavern — opening soon in L.A.
"I had several offers, but this by far was the most interesting and most rewarding. There are a lot of different foods, a lot of different styles … it is just a great place to use my expertise," McMillan said on Tuesday afternoon.
But, now what will happen to the old building and restaurant?
I have heard rumors that some new faces are looking at the location for a more casual concept, but I haven’t heard anything definite yet. However, readers, you know I will keep you posted.

Speaking of "definite" items, the Carroll Education Foundation has set Oct. 12 as their date for their 12th annual Culinary Celebration.
This year’s chairwoman, Gina Faris, along with her team, has been out recruiting the more than 25 restaurants that participate in this dining experience.
The Hyatt Regency DFW is the site for this food-and-wine fundraiser, which will begin at 5:30 with cocktails and last until 10 p.m.
Last year’s event raised more than $290,000, which was used for grants and scholarships for the teachers and students of the Carroll School District.
If you want to help, I’m sure they would be thrilled to have you call them at 817-949-5982. Don’t worry, no cooking experience is required!
